Program: Atmospheric Sciences 

Graduate students in Atmospheric Sciences are typically supported through research assistantships, teaching assistantships, and fellowships. These roles come with competitive stipends, tuition waivers, and health insurance, enabling full-time focus on research and teaching. 

Who can apply? 

All graduate students admitted to the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington. 

What is covered? 

  • Annual stipend (2024–2025 RA salary: $41,688) 

  • Full tuition waiver (both in-state and out-of-state) 

  • Full health insurance coverage (medical, dental, and vision) 

  • Paid TA positions (typically same pay as RA) 

  • Hourly roles such as reader, grader, or tutor also available 

Eligibility criteria 

  • Must be a graduate student in Atmospheric Sciences at UW 

  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress 

  • Must fulfill required TA duties (usually one or two quarters, starting in the second year) 

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. 

How to apply? 

  • Students are automatically considered for RA and TA appointments upon admission. 

  • For hourly roles (reader, grader, tutor), apply directly to the department as needed.
